Astoria
by: Anonymous

The Hotel was clean and comfortable. Our room had a balcony which had stunning views of the lake and mountains. There was a road between the hotel and lake but this did not constitute any noise nuisance.

The Astoria is a family run hotel and the younger female proprietor was very helpful with bus timetables, local info even giving us a lift into Malcesine twice as she was going that way.

The Hotel was clean, bedlinen and towels changed frequently, the bathroom was cleaned and the overall cleanliness of the Hotel was very good.

I would have to say that the food offered let the Hotel down and was very samey. In 2 weeks we had pork at least 5 times true served in different ways, but pork by any other name?

There was a salad buffet occasionally as a pre-starter, but we found the menu choice limited, usually only 2 choices offered for every course, altho in fairness we asked for an omlette instead of the offered choices one evening and this presented no problem. The bread was or appeared to be bread left over from breakfast and was often stale or dry.

Breakfast was a buffet style, with a choice of 4 cereals, fruit salad, yoghurt and cheese, meat and rolls. Sadly the rolls were not always fresh and occasionally very dry. However it was the end of the season and very few people were staying at the Hotel. Things improved for a few days when a coachload of guests arrived for a 4 night stay as far as the bread rolls went.

The bar area was not very welcoming, but again this was the beginning of October so the end of the season, maybe it was livelier in the summer?

Unfortunatley we both contracted a rather nasty virus whilst at the hotel and I was a bit dissapointed that no-one rang our room to enquire after us, there were very few other guests and we were unwell for 5 days.

In all (apart from being unwell) we enjoyed our stay at The Astoria and I would recommend it for a quiet clean Hotel outside of the busier resort of Malcesine.

Staying at the Astoria
by: Ray Walker

This is one of the best hotels that I have used around the lake Garda area. This family run hotel is very friendly the service is exellent the family run a brilliant hotel. The food is very good the chef works to a very high standard. The hotel grounds and the area around and in front of the hotel are very well kept and the main road holds no problems with noise. I have been using this hotel for the last 3 years and will keep using it for as long as it is there.
